The Challenge
Alarm.com offers users a wide range of settings for users to fine-tune their security camera preferences and settings. From network status to storage utilization, the possibilities are vast. Users needed a simpler architecture to navigate these settings.
Simplified a once-cluttered interface and architecture, making complex settings easier to access.
Brought full functionality to mobile, removing the need to rely on desktop.
Introduced a streamlined framework that improved engineering efficiency and set the stage for future updates.
My Role
I led UX design for Alarm.com's Video Settings re-design, which brings these settings to iOS, Android, and Web. I focused on creating intuitive navigation with user-friendly language that simplifies the experience.
Working with the Mobile Video Team's PM, I created layout solutions and found ways to use our existing design system to help users easily access their settings on both mobile and desktop.
A New Framework
From the start, we knew that we needed to create a flexible and modular framework. The number of devices we support is constantly growing and we are always adding new features. The new solution needs to accommodate future growth and simplify the presentation of our current offering.
