The Challenge
Alarm.com users struggled to discover and utilize the full capabilities of their smart home systems, leading to missed opportunities for system feature discovery and account expansion.
Many customers were unaware of available features and functionality within their existing systems
Users had difficulty finding relevant information about system upgrades and additional products
The lack of a centralized educational hub created barriers to customer engagement and system optimization
My Role
After initial collaboration with the lead designer to define the problem space and explore solutions, I took ownership of the Discover section design. I led the design of the project from concept through implementation, working jointly with various project managers along the way.
User-Centric Organization
We reorganized communication channels and feature discovery into a unified "Discover" section, moving away from scattered notifications across email and app. This approach made it easier for users to find and engage with system features.
Consolidated tasks, feature suggestions, and upsell offers into one cohesive experience
Created an intuitive hierarchy of information, with high-priority items receiving prominent placement
Developed a flexible system that could adapt to both urgent needs and educational content

Discover allows users to move from discovering features to learning about them and setting them up in their own system, all in one place.
